Men and women look at things very differently. Therefore, the trigger factors to wanting to make a purchase is very different too.
Men are left brainer, their logic of purchase is more logical and practical, they like facts and figures. Therefore, in the sales copy, put in a lot of facts, statistics figure, the men will more likely convinced to make the purchase.
Whereas women are more relational, they long for a personal relationship.
The soft approach (or soft sell) is more effective to women. Put in more testimonial, audio clips and pictures that touch express the emotion or feeling will more likely entice the women buyer to make the purchase.
Women will be the one shopping for their husbands or boyfriends, therefore, the website design, product packaging and especially the sales copy writing must cater for the women online consumers. And statistics shows that the number of women shoping online is rising pretty fast.
In fact, based on a survey, majority of the people using Yahoo are women where most of the men use Google. If we take a look at Yahoo and Google websites, we can tell the reason.
Noe, the problem is most of the website designers and copy writers are men, so they have to make the adjustment how to design and write in a woman language.
This is extremely true for website selling woman products or the likely buyer is woman.
